Chilkigarh Rajbari Jhargram
We have visited chilkigarh Kanankdurga temple first then we have visited the Rajbari. After entering the gate we have seen a big ground surrounded by a long wall. There is no entry fee needed to enter & no parking fees for bikes.
Entering the gate we have found the Rajbari first and the Rajbari is not properly maintained then there are many temples like Shiva temple, Radha krishna Temple, Dance floor and also a rath. The entire Rajbari is not accessible cause the behind part of the Rajbari is now used by the next generation of the last king.
Chilkigarh Rajbari History :
A thin tributary of Subarnarekha River, locally popular as Dulung, flows through Chilki Garh. During those days, Maratha dacoits called ‘Borgi’ used to often attack this part of Bengal. To prevent their invasion, Dhabaldeb constructed his fortress on the other side of Dulung River inside the forest so that his private residence is protected by the water stream.
What We Observed
The front part of the Rajbari is now a school cause we saw a board hanging over there. We met two new friends over there, they guide us the full Rajbari. After taking selfie & having such memories we said them goodbye. The entire Jhargram tour in one day was completed.
