Summery : Chilkigarh kanak durga mandir is situated in Jhargram, Westbengal & it is 14kms from Main jhargram town. The temple is very famous for old architecture and the history. Jhargram has many more attractions but this temple gives visitors a thrilling experience. Now let’s jump into the main Travelogue.
We have our journey in bike from Bankura city to Jhargram so we woke up early in the morning. It was about 190+ km from our town though the weather was little bit cloudy but being a biker we were too much exited.
We reached Jhargram Chilkigarh kanak durga mandirfront gate , actually Kanak Durga temple has three gates . After entering the front gate we have seen a board which tells us – “ the place is smoke & alcohol free “ which boosted our energy & the two sides of slim road is full of greenery. Then we found another gate engraved with name – “ Kanakdurga Mandir Chilkigarh “
Here we found the parking area & the ticket counter . the ticket costed Rs.5 each person & for parking bike,cars it costed Rs.20 which is OK according to us.
After entering we got a lane which was surrounded by medical plants & all plants were identified by their Common name & scientific names that was awesome. The lane was totally quite as we could hear the sounds of insects living on that plants.
Now finally we found the two Temples . you all are having doubts right ?? Two ?? Yeah there was two temples one is old & one is new one.
History Of Jhargram Kanak Durga Temple
Actually the main old temple was made by King Gopinatho. Goddesses Maa Mahamaya came to his dream & ordered King Gopinatho to build the temple. Then the king built the temple 500+ years ago, The idol of Mahamaya is 2 feet in height made of pure Gold Though there was many words like at first the idol was made of stone but recently it was covered with gold. Mysterious right ? Now the history started the main temple was broken into two pieces through the lightning of a thunderstorm day. Then the next generation of the king made the new temple beside the old temple.
In the area of the Jhargram kanakdurga temple we found many monkeys on the tree which were tried to steal our things like foods not only ours but also all visitors. It also had a story that the monkeys are from that time so that none can hurt the atmosphere of the goddesses temple.
Beside the temples there was Dulung River is flowing & there was a ghat , beside that that a balidan ritual was done yearly. It was a thrilling experience visiting that place.
There are many more sites to visit beside the Jhargram Kanak durga mandir like Ghagra Waterfalls, Chilkigarh Rajbari, Jhargram Rajbari .
